U.S. stock-index futures were higher early Monday, November 2, but the recovery came with a warning from Japan: not every business tied to artificial intelligence was sharing in the rebound. For American investors checking their accounts before the opening bell, that split matters more than a single green number.

This update uses Bloomberg’s market snapshot as of 7 a.m. London time on Monday—7 a.m. UTC, 2 a.m. Eastern and 11 p.m. Sunday in Los Angeles. It is an overnight futures report, not a claim that Monday’s U.S. stock market has already opened. The quoted moves can change before readers place an order.

What does the latest overnight data actually show?

U.S. futures pointed higher at 7 a.m. UTC Monday, with S&P 500 contracts up 0.4% and Nasdaq 100 contracts up 0.8%. Japan’s chip shares offered a more cautious signal. The contrast suggests improving overall sentiment, but not a clean bill of health for every company exposed to AI spending.

Bloomberg’s dated market snapshot also showed Dow futures up 0.3%. Futures are contracts linked to an index’s expected value; they trade outside the regular stock-market session. Their percentage change is not the return that an investor has already earned in an index fund.

Reuters independently reported the same direction in its Monday Asian-session update, published at 04:48 UTC: S&P 500 futures were up 0.5%, and Nasdaq futures had gained 0.9%. Those figures belong to a different snapshot. Comparing them with Bloomberg’s later numbers confirms a rebound across both reports, not an uninterrupted rise or a precise live quote.
